Lisa Meri - Happy Project

I wanted to explore some new sounds and textures on this project. There is a lot more imagery in the lyrics. I also wanted to tap into some different thematic material.

Here’s a brief description of the music:

Deep Blue Ocean- I wrote a part for Jim that used layers of piano, keyboards and percussion to capture the feeling of escaping and floating away on water.

Happy- We balanced the lightness of the drums and bass with some tension in the guitar voicings. The combination of acoustic guitar, bass and drums created a warmth and openness in the music.

In The Wake Of A Restless Dream- David and I used various guitar tones, timbres and effects to create an ambient, haunting, dreamlike mood. We overlapped acoustic steel string, classical and electric guitars using pedals, delays, a glass slide and even a dime to create the textures we wanted.

This was an extremely satisfying and creative project.
I'm very “happy” with the results.

PLACEMENTS:

DEEP BLUE OCEANhas been placed in the DVD- Dawson's Creek: The Complete Third Season. The song has also been placed on Sony's Internet Soundtrack Site for the series.
